Theres only so much you can do with SPD

Having all new computers with lots of RAM and a new version of Cinema 4d with SPD and Zbrush at hand I went a little crazy with it as you should to test the limitations of techniques/technology but now I'm starting to see the limitations and then I adjust...thats the key... I was speaking in SF recently and I was talking about learning 3d... I was talking about not worrying about possible problems or complications until you encounter them... or don't let what you can't do prevent you from doing what you can... When I get something new I just jump in and push it as hard as I can to get the results I want...if it works I keep moving...if it doesn't I find the workaround and keep moving... Too many times I've encountered people saying "what if I want to do X" and to them I say while worry about X when you get there... because thats no way to learn..out of fear... you need to be fearless WHILE saving revisions and backing things up as a safety net of sorts...

School is for BLANK

You probably didn't know that I dropped out of school in the 3rd grade... I would start every year after that but if the teachers and curriculum didn't interest me I would stop going... If you want to know more about that read this book I'm in chapter 3... check that out if you want to know what a young M dot Strange did with police and vaseline...and its not what you think haha But anyway I stumbled upon this great lecture about what is wrong with the education system in regard to creativity... I didn't know it when I was a child... but when I was in school something told me that if I stayed there something would break inside of me... now I can be called a lot of horrible and crazY things but you cannot say that I am NOT creative and I KNOW that my creativity survived to adulthood only because I wasn't subjected to the school system. So if your in a situation where "they" or "it" is trying to break you... you MUST do whatever you can to protect

Some picasso quote+ E_vilE

"Good artists borrow, great artists steal" Some d00d said in the past... I wish that quote was never written down seeing as how capitalistic whores with no sense of self and a poor work ethnic seem to take pride in stealing others work and patting themselves on the back for being "original" because the putrid incestual system they are part of does not recognize anything that is not part of IT...so its very easy for them to lie to themselves about origination... If the masses haven't seen it...it must not exist... something only fools would believe... unfortunately fools run this world...right now ^_^ History is the ultimate judge and times are changing... you can't hide anything anymore so the truth will slowly rise to the surface for all to see... the horrible horrible truth will burn peoples eyes and force them to face they ultimate fear... truth. Some will still deny it and turn back towards the television and mass media, suckling on its coaxial teet, bas

Bizarro WoRLD

Want to live in my worlD? Ok... Wake up at midnight... stumble over to your workstation... launch Zbrush and Cinema 4d while listening to this station then when the sun comes up curse at it while you finish the last model then collapse into bed, your head filled with fresh nightmares to inspire another nighT.

Dropbox for online collaboration

I just started using the FREE dropbox service and its awesome! This is going to help online collaboration a lot... I've used chat apps to send files etc and those were never that convenient because both people had to be online at once... Dropbox creates a virtual "dropbox" anywhere you want on your PC or Mac which you can sync with other computers of your own OR other peoples computer anywhere in teh world... It notifes you when files have been updated AND you can access the files as if they were on your local hard drive.

Yogurt and teh movieS

I kind of understood those people at Sundance when WATS played there 2 years ago because of yogurt... So I always eat vanilla yogurt... Tonight while working I grabbed what i thought was vanilla yogurt...I opened the packaging that was the same styled packaging that the yogurt is always in... I got a spoonful of it and ate it... WHA?! this isn't vanilla?! What is it?! It wasn't rotten but I didn't like the taste... it wasn't what I expected it to be...it was mango... After seeing that it was something different...it didn't taste bad anymore...just different...after tasting it for a little bit I liked it... Soooo the people that hated WATS at Sundance thought it was what they knew as a "film" because it was packaged and formatted like one BUT it was a flavor they didn't expect BUT instead of trying it they all spit it out. Haha so yeh these are the kind of parallels I make in regard to my film career and dairy products at 6:45am on a Sunday while modeli

Alive yeH

Now that I'm getting a lot of film and music stuff done I'm not writing here much... BUT I have some hanD_E 3d geek stuff I'll post soon that I've been learning... I'm all about learning tricks to be faster and more efficient so I'll pass some on to you... I must say using Cinema 4d 11 and Zbrush 3 everyday is awesome... They are both super stable and quick... and I can pretty much make anything I can imagine with them relatively easily... If I could go back when I was learning Cinema 4d I would have paid more attention to reading the manual and learned what every tool did so I could use them the right way... I've wasted so much time in the past using tools the wrong way... but I guess I was always like panicking trying to get things done so I didn't give myself time to learn it just had to perform... So yeh if your new to 3d take your time and learn the tools... try to figure out what they are all good for and use them for that... seems simple enough bu

Life goes on

I found out recently that a childhood friend of mine died when I was in Europe a few months ago... i hadn't talked to him in like 20 years probably... we were best friends in elementary school... So I found his myspace page and looked at his pics from when he was teh live...... it reminded me of how I grew up... All my friends were cholo's and thugs pretty much... I was the one weird white kid in the neighborhood... they never tried to make me join gangs or anything they respected me as the weirdo I was cause I think i scared them haha... there's something to be said for living in the real world, with real people... Cause now I could be acting like some uppity artist fuck... I would never do that but if I did how could I look at my old friends in the eye? Yeh even though I hadn't seen my friend in 20 years I bet if I did I'd be in his backyard drinkin beer wiF him and freestyling or some shit haha... As an artist I believe you have a responsibility to express the th

Making games....

Since I'm so influenced by games and now that I have full 3d animation powers etc isn't about time I learn more about game development? Yeh!!! There's this app I've heard about for a while called Unity 3d Just downloaded the 30 day trial and am printing out some doc's... I'm gonna see what I can do in 30 days... At a glance it looks really powerful and not so hard to use... I don't know if I'll be able to do it on this film but it would be great to development the game for the film along side the film so I could release them around the same time... Just thinking about creating game environments and experiences gives me over 9000 ideas... It would be so much fun to fuck with people that way ^_^ I've had an idea for a DS/Iphone touchscreen game for a while now... I'll have a go at that....

What the digital cinema "theater" should bE

If you want to start a business based on this model please do... I'll be doing it just because anyway ^_^ Ok the key to this type of the theater is too maximize communication and community amongst filmgoers... two things we see less off in this new digital world and that people are hungry for... also its utilizing "consumer" level equipment for exhibition... the human factor is the most important thing here... The layout of the theater will be a lot like a school... small classroom sized rooms... 10 - 15 of these rooms with a lcd or similar type display near each door... Now there was something great about going into the Mom and Pop video rental place and asking about what to watch... think "genius bar" here like in the Apple stores... so at the front desk of this theater is a "film genius" a person who knows film well... not mainstream shit he's paid to promote... a real person... So you pay your admission which is based on time not how many films
